I got saved in 1980 through a Baptist Missionary named Ron Washer who came to Togo, my native country, in West Africa, and lived in our neighborhood. Then he invited me to his church and I accepted his invitation just to please him. For since my childhood the only religious education I could get was idol worship (voodoo). But God was gracious to me that after I attended the church service several times, I heard the gospel message that Christ died for me, and shed His blood on the cross of Calvary for me. And when I went back home, the Holy Spirit continued to work on my heart till the point that I was convinced that I was a sinner and I was lost, therefore, I needed Christ to be my Savior. And that very day I repented of my sins and received Christ as my Savior and Lord. Then I was born again and became a child of God. What a miracle! I was the first person to be saved in my family, even in the whole village where I was born. Praise the Lord for His wondrous grace and great salvation.
However, my faith and my new life in Christ would be so strange and so shocking to my relatives in such a way that I had to go through a lot of persecutions. I was despised and rejected by my relatives till the point that I had to leave home and live alone as a teenager. But God used those hardships and trials to strengthen my faith.
Concerning my call, as I was growing up in the grace of God, studying His Word and getting closer and closer to the Lord, I had but one desire, that is, to serve Him. Then one day when I was praying and seeking the will of God for my life, the Holy Spirit highly impressed upon my heart that I was called into the ministry to preach the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. Thus, in 1993, I responded to the call of God and surrendered my life to full time Christian service. The I left our State University where I was studying to become a lawyer, and I went to Bible College in Ghana (West Africa). Then after my graduation I went back to Togo and started a church named Bread of Life Baptist Church, and later we started another work, which is the Source of Light Baptist Church. Then there was the crucial need of establishing a Bible College in Togo (West Africa). Therefore I seized the opportunity that the Lord gave me to come to the USA to further my studies in Bible at Landmark Baptist College in Haines City, Florida. I graduated on May 20, 2001, and my family and I are now heading back to Togo to continue our church planting ministry, evangelism, and training Christian workers for the propagation of the gospel of Jesus Christ. I do have a great vision for Togo. I have the burden to preach the gospel and bring many souls to Christ, and if the Lord tarries to come, I look forward to seeing a great work accomplished in Togo (West Africa). |
